HGV Driver Wins Compensation for Holiday Car Crash

An HGV driver from Nottingham who was injured in a road traffic accident whilst on annual leave has won compensation for his injuries.

Christopher Dring was on holiday with his wife, towing their caravan in the outside lane of a dual carriageway north of Leicester when the accident happened. Another vehicle came up on the inside lane and ran into the front left-hand side of their car with such force that the caravan jack-knifed and the car was propelled towards the hard shoulder.

Mr Dring and his wife both required immediate medical attention. However, the impact of the crash had exacerbated pre-existing problems with Mr Dring's neck and lower back and he also suffered post-traumatic stiffness in his shoulder and inflammation in his left knee. He spent the rest of their holiday recovering from his injuries and suffered ongoing pain and restricted movement in his shoulder for several months afterwards.

The driver of the other vehicle denied liability for the accident, but Mr Dring succeeded in his claim for compensation.
