Dad Hit by Range Rover Wins £75,000 Damages

It is not always easy to discern where blame for road accidents lies. However, that should not put you off seeking legal advice if you are injured. In one case that proves the point, lawyers representing a father who was knocked down by a chauffeur-driven Range Rover won him £75,000 in damages.

The impact was at low speed and, in denying liability for the accident, the driver's insurers argued that the man had crossed the road at a point where it was unsafe to do so. The man's legal team argued that he had suffered brain damage, but the extent of his injuries was also disputed by the insurers.

That impasse was broken, however, when negotiations between lawyers for each side achieved a final settlement of the case. The High Court had no hesitation in approving the realistic compromise, which is very much in the man's interests and will go some way to making his life easier in the future.
